To mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Australian Services Roundtable (ASR) we are proud to present a groundbreaking statistical showcase that tracks the strong performance of Australia’s services industries over the first 20 years of the millennium.
The analysis draws on best practice international data sets to offer ground-breaking new findings on Australia’s services trade performance and the ongoing trade policy challenges ahead.

ASR’s research was sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in association with the Australian Government’s Services Export Action Plan.
The showcase presents important new data on Outward Foreign Affiliates Trade, the astronomic growth in services productivity, and the status of Digitisable Services Exports—among other findings.
It also provides a strong case for services, and the creation of conditions conducive to trade in services, being key to the pandemic-generated economic slowdown.
The showcase may also be downloaded as a pdf by clicking here.
A presentation by ASR Director Professor Jane Drake-Brockman explaining the showcase and Australia’s Services Economy in more detail may also be downloaded as a pdf. A video of the presentation may be viewed below, or on Vimeo by clicking the link here.
